And you thought Sully was a cute newborn!  He has turned out to be quite a handsome little guy - who happens to look great in blue!  We had fun at Sully's 6 Month session.  He is a sweet sweet baby, surrounded by such a large and loving family.  He's quite a lucky little fellow!

What is everyone doing to stay warm today?  This little snow bunny is all bundled up and ready to brave the cold weather :)  Happy 3 months to Brooklyn!  Brooklyn is taking advantage of the Baby Plans I offer, so I will get to see her all throughout her first year!  Her mom doesn't even have to remember to schedule each session.  I just send a friendly reminder when it's almost time to schedule her next session, and mom just sits back and enjoys Brooklyn's first year!  Ask me about my Baby Plans today!  They've changed this year, and I think you'll like the flexibility ;)

This is Lainey!  She decided to come along during December, which is just in time for a Christmas newborn announcement.  These were hand-designed by Yours Truly, and I just love how they turned out.  These might just be my favorite newborn announcements yet!  Lainey is the perfect little gift these first-time parents could have asked for.  Oh, and let's talk about her name for a moment!  Her name is a family name, but she'll go by Lainey.  Elaine is such a classic name, and it means "shining light."  I think that fits her perfectly!

Below, you'll find a few more of my favorite newborn announcements that I created this past year.  Clients always have the option to customize the announcements and choose the size and paper they'd like.  Some enjoy being involved in the process while other trust my judgement and like more of a "hands-off" approach :)   Either way, I love presenting these to clients - and then they get to deliver them to friends and family!  Such a fun little way to introduce your new baby to your loved ones!

Newborn Photography: Because I Said So

Many people don't see the value in hiring a newborn photographer and they come up with far too many excuses not to hire one.  I'm not going to try and convince you to hire a newborn photographer, but I'm just saying...you'll regret it if you don't.  I can think of a thousand reasons to hire a newborn photographer, and I'm not even a mother yet.

When is your little guy ever going to be that tiny again?  Not tomorrow, not the next day. Definitely not in a year.  Especially with what people feed their kids these days.  Oreos and milkshakes go a long way in the weight gaining arena.

How long will you experience those first few weeks of parental bliss, staring at your new little arrival for hours on end?  Maybe for a few weeks, maybe a few months.  What about in a year when she is screaming in the middle of Target, your hands are full, the Starbucks coffee has just been thrown at your face, and your brand new lipstick has been used as a crayon all over the floor?  Yes, you'll argue that there are happy times too, but will you remember those times when you get home from Target?  Not if there are no pictures of her from her first few days on this earth when she first made you a mother.

What about when you aren't around in X number of years?  How will your children remember you?  Will they see you on the gorgeous canvas over the fireplace, holding them in your arms, wishing they would never grow up?

What about Dad?  Dad is never in any photos.  Dad doesn't like to take pictures. Dad is always working so hard, and doesn't take time off work.  Will Dad be in the album on the coffee table, seen snuggling your first born child, enjoying his few weeks of time away from work?

Time flies. Things change. People change.  And children grow up.

So just do it.  You don't even need to think about it.  You have 9 months to save.  Yes, high end photography is a luxury, not a necessity.  It's something you want though, isn't it?  Like you wanted that purse you bought yesterday.  You have one of every color in your closet.  It's like when you wanted that new car you bought last year.  Your other one works just fine.  People find a way to get the things they want.  You find the money somewhere, and you make it happen.  Newborn photography is something you want, so start saving now so that you're ready when your little one arrives.  You'll be so glad you did.
